The Republic Standard aims to be accurate and fair, and to be clear with readers about the difference between news and opinion.
News and commentary
We publish two kinds of work. Our news coverage reports facts and attributes them to their sources. Our commentary advances arguments and is labeled as opinion; columns reflect the views of their authors, not an institutional position.
Sourcing and attribution
We write from public records, primary documents, and named sources, and we attribute facts to them. We quote sparingly and attribute every quotation to its speaker.
Fairness
We write from a conservative point of view, and we represent the people and arguments we disagree with accurately. We do not invent quotes or facts.
Corrections
We correct factual errors promptly and note substantive corrections at the foot of the corrected article. To report an error, use our Contact page and include the article title and the specific point at issue.
